Match for Meals

Matching Donations to Feed Local Families

As local food banks’ resources are stretched thin to serve record numbers of people experiencing food insecurity, United Way California Capital Region and Sierra Health Foundation are teaming up for Match for Meals. All donations made through Match for Meals between now and January 31, 2026, will be matched up to $300,000 by the Sierra Health Foundation and United Way organizations.

Donations will go to:

  • Interfaith Food Bank of Amador County
  • Food Bank of El Dorado County
  • Feeding the Foothills (Placer County)
  • Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services
  • Yolo Food Bank

Across the state in 2024, food banks distributed more than 950 million pounds of food and served more than 6 million people per month, according to the California Association of Food Banks. Currently 1 in 5 Californians – almost 9 million – experience food insecurity.

For the fund, Sierra Health Foundation is matching donations up to $200,000 and United Way California Capital Region is matching up to $100,000, encouraging individuals and institutions to support the region’s four local food banks.
